Diane Clapes, Textile Artist
Diane was born in Winchester, Massachusetts, grew up in Newtown, Connecticut and graduated from the University of Connecticut. She currently works at her home studio in Atlanta, Georgia.
Diane has always enjoyed working with fabric. She dabbled at textile art while raising a family, but turned to her passion full-time when her youngest child left for college. Diane loves the tactility of textile art. It's a wonderfully versatile medium that gives the artist license to forge her own path. There are so many different approaches to art quilting and Diane enjoys learning new techniques while honing skills she already uses. Diane's work has been seen in numerous shows and magazines, and has hung at the Textile Museum at George Washington University in Washington, D.C. Her work also hangs in the homes of private collectors.
Diane is a member of the Studio Art Quilt Associates (SAQA) and is currently serving as the co-rep for the Georgia/South Carolina Region.
